Emotion and Form, a study in deeper, emotional expression
INTUITIVELY
EXPRESSING
HUMAN
EMOTION
In this study, I was seeking a deeper connection with emotional expression in the physical world, allowing deep-seated feelings to have a physical voice and presence. Tapping into and verbalizing my true emotions has been a lifelong struggle, except when I was expressing those feelings as a vocalist. When I lost the ability to sing a few years back, due to some health issues, I felt emotionally broken, with no way to free the ever-increasing build up of feeling. Without getting too personal, I was also dealing with some trauma from the past I simply couldn’t release and I needed a way to take what was inside and put it outside, where I could better analyze, bless it, and send it on its way. Emotion and Form has been a healing opportunity, allowing feelings and intuitions that were harmed or trapped to be released and expressed. Each piece represents both inner and outer conversations with my soul. What was lost with my ability to sing, has been found in paint. My hope is that these conversations in mixed media may help to heal and invite free expression from those who bring them into their lives, homes, and environments.
