Behind The Curtain

$65.00

Acrylic paint on paper

Measures: 6 × 6 inches, portrait
Signed and stamped with Thalia’s signature red seal
Sold unframed

—

Every piece in this original art series is a whimsical and intuitive expression of hiding places from the storms of life, particularly in childhood, some physical and others emotional. The colors, shapes and textures were combined to offer healing validation on both a physical and emotional level; a balm of peace and quiet to wrap oneself in.

“Behind The Curtain,” is representational of both one’s need for introversion and the pressure to put on a face and perform. Looking through the curtain is familiar to those who like to observe, rather than participate. But no one can remain behind the proverbial curtain forever. As an HSP, the only way I could handle the pressures of the other side of the curtain—the side of the extroverts—especially as a child, was to change my persona to a caricature of myself that could handle the intensity of “being on stage”. But it always felt like a performance. As most introverts, I prefer the other side of the curtain. The quiet side. This piece is a simple reminder that whatever side of the curtain one is on, or chooses to be, it’s more important to be authentic than to give in to the pressures to perform.
