Every piece in this original art series is a whimsical and intuitive expression of hiding places from the storms of life, particularly in childhood, some physical and others emotional. The colors, shapes and textures were combined to offer healing validation on both a physical and emotional level; a balm of peace and quiet to wrap oneself in.
“Deep Inside,” where you store your secrets—the good and the bad. When I was young, I was afraid of this dark vault within. Now, I’m grateful for it. What once felt like a strange and unusual Dr. Suess inspired land, is now a way station for emotions and thoughts I have not yet found solutions or resolutions for. Instead of shaming myself for allowing such things to exist inside of me, I’m grateful for the space and time it provides. Healing, forgiveness, and moving through challenging feelings takes time. You need a waiting room for the process of healing to take place in. There’s no shame in allowing a space deep within to house, only for a time, that which needs patience to release.
