Every piece in this original art series is a whimsical and intuitive expression of hiding places from the storms of life, particularly in childhood, some physical and others emotional. The colors, shapes and textures were combined to offer healing validation on both a physical and emotional level; a balm of peace and quiet to wrap oneself in.
“Periscope,” a place to hide inside while still remaining apart of the larger world. I love this piece and the memories it sparks of imaginative play. Moments of secrets, of mixing reality and wonder. There is also a sense of rising above the storms. A ship afloat, atop a heavy sea. One’s imagination has the capacity to dream up a happy ending, to see hope and light at the end of a tunnel of darkness. In one’s dreams, one always moves into the light.
