Princess Earth

$437.00

Acrylic on wood panel

Measures: 9” x 12”
Signed and stamped with Thalia’s signature red seal
Sold unframed

It’s interesting that the Aztecs attributed royalty to what modern humans call mother. The pieces in the “Prayer For Corn” collection were each derived from one aspect of an Aztecan prayer for an abundant harvest of maize. Rather than mother, princess and sister are used, terms that evoke partnership—of a divine nature—rather than leadership or entitlement. In this work, corn and community are abstracted similarly. From one, is born many.
