The Goddess of Sustenance, could there be a more beautiful title? Chicomecoatl, the goddess of corn/maize and the most notable of the Aztecan gods. The priesthood adorned themselves in her attire in ritual celebration. There may be a lot to unpack here, but I won’t; not yet. Although this piece is small, it has presence. A reminder of the feminine power to provide life and the sustenance to maintain that life.
