Seeing, But Unseen
Acrylic paint on paper
Measures: 6 × 6 inches, portrait

Every piece in this original art series is a whimsical and intuitive expression of hiding places from the storms of life, particularly in childhood, some physical and others emotional. The colors, shapes and textures were combined to offer healing validation on both a physical and emotional level; a balm of peace and quiet to wrap oneself in.
“Seeing, But Unseen,” is an invitation for sovereignty. Trauma robs souls of individuality. Part of healing is taking back physical and emotional autonomy. I love that this piece feels enshrouded and how that represents visually what it feels like to find solidarity with oneself. Outside approval does not bring inner peace, it disrupts it. This piece is a reminder that to feel free, one must quietly and internally become free.
