Every piece in this original art series is a whimsical and intuitive expression of hiding places from the storms of life, particularly in childhood, some physical and others emotional. The colors, shapes and textures were combined to offer healing validation on both a physical and emotional level; a balm of peace and quiet to wrap oneself in.
“Trying To Relate,” part of human growth. Finding compassion and empathy for others and for oneself is an important step in the healing journey. Humans do a lot of comparing; comparing this with that, oneself with others, others with others, etc. In my own healing journey, learning to empathize with my younger self was much more difficult than finding compassion for others. This piece is an important reminder that the person one needs to relate to the most, is often the one staring back in the mirror.
