Every piece in this original art series is a whimsical and intuitive expression of hiding places from the storms of life, particularly in childhood, some physical and others emotional. The colors, shapes and textures were combined to offer healing validation on both a physical and emotional level; a balm of peace and quiet to wrap oneself in.
“Where The Wild Things Are,” a familiar phrase for children in the U.S. But also a reality for many. The “wild things,” in this case, being the things we hide from most, but which need the most love and attention. As children, we rarely can articulate our pain, and so it sits inside waiting for attention from our adult selves. My own wild things have been an overwhelming, yet healing, adventure. I’ve been able to make piece with most, if not all, of them, and now we dance in the forest together.
